THE FUTURE IS LATINO, NOT NATIVIST:

Sen. Mel Martinez to Chair RNC (NewsMax, 11/13/06)

Sen. Mel Martinez, the first-term lawmaker who previously served in President Bush’s Cabinet, will assume the chairmanship of the Republican National Committee, GOP officials said Monday.

Martinez, 60, will replace current chairman Ken Mehlman, who will leave the post in January at the end of his two-year term, said the officials, who spoke on condition of anonymity to avoid pre-empting a formal announcement.

I think Steele would have been better. The GOP needs to know that
there are bigger plans for Steele or else the base won’t be happy.

There is also talk that the current House leadership will stay
(i.e. Blunt). 2 missed chances for the GOP to reenergize for 2008.

  2. Orrin says:

Blacks are outnumbered and too concentrated in urban areas to matter as much to the GOP’s future.

  3. PapayaSF says:

Too bad those Latinos are voting Democrat three-quarters of the time….

  4. Orrin says:

W and Arnold both got 40%+, even with the racist crackpots in the Party weighing them down.

  5. Brad S says:

AWW, I don’t think it matters right now who the GOP House has for it’s leaders.
Other than Hastert, I think anyone of them can go in front of MSM when asked,
and can be counted upon to give the GOP line. No one will pay attention to them.

  6. Mike Beversluis says:

Democrats love military veterans the same way. Both parties need to prove their love if they want to get past first base.

  7. curt says:

    The Peter Principle squared.

  8. erp says:

Martinez rivals Biden as the dumbest senator ever.

  9. Orrin says:

Santorum makes Biden look like Einstein.

  10. Bob says:

Patty Murray, Debbie Stabanow, Mark Dayton, John Kerry. Bob Casey, Jr.
Far dumber than Martinez or Biden.

In fact, there are about 5 senators whose IQ exceeds 100. This is in keeping with history.
Dumb senators are the norm, not the exception.
